About us
- The choir in 2000.
Our choir, which was founded in 1996 by our conductor Ulrich Meiß, today consists of 120 members. The members are students of the 11 th to 13 th grade of Modellschule Obersberg and students of the 5 th to 10 th grade of schools in Bad Hersfeld and the bordering area. Furthermore, former students who already study or have a profession are still in the choir and enrich it musically.
Our training consists of weekly rehearsals and vocal practices as well as so called "rehearsal-weekends" in which we renew and perfect our concert programme. This extends from German folk songs ("Es waren zwei Königskinder" and "Kein schöner Land"), gospels, and hymns ("O Lord hear my prayr, "Ride the chariot") to modern popsongs by popular groups (for example Abba).
- Week of practicing in Heide 2009.
We enjoy the hospitality of our twin towns and friendly choirs every year. On these concert journeys we meet new friends and get to know new, foreign cultures. In the first years we visited Croatia, France, then Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Greece, Russia, Norway and even Chile. At the centre of our journeys are the musical exchange and the intercultural understanding.
An important part of our yearly programme are the concerts in the municipal hall of Bad Hersfeld ( in spring and autumn), in the church of Bad Hersfeld at Christmas and in summer in the "Bad Hersfelder Stiftsruine" where we already arranged the final concert of the " Bad Hersfelder Festspiele" a couple of times. Furthermore, we give charity concerts, for example in old people´s homes. We have a great interest to also reach the ill and old people of our society with our music.
- Travel to Athens in spring 2005.
In addition to some cd-records we already had appearances on the broadcasting of Hessia-TV. A special moment in our choir history was the presentation of the first price in the music competition "MusikGewinnt!". With this price the Modellschule Obersberg, represented by the choir and the brass ensemble, was honored for its special musical work at school.
